While there are plenty of dual-type Pokémon with a Flying subtype, there are currently only a handful of mono-Flying Pokémon.
3. Rookidee
Introduced in Gen 8, Rookidee is the only first stage “regional bird” with a mono-Flying type; all others have a Normal/Flying dual-typing.
2. Corvisquire
The evolution of Rookidee maintains the mono-Flying typing prior to evolving into it’s final form Corviknight, which gains a secondary Steel type.
1. Tornadus (Incarnate Forme)
Finally, we reach the de-facto best Flying-type on our list: the legendary Tornadus. Introduced in Gen 5, boasting a base stat total of 580 and the signature move Bleakwind Storm, this powerhouse remains a staple in a number of competitive teams due to a high number of setup moves and coverage.
Honorable Mention: Tornadus (Therian Forme)
The Forces of Nature each have the ability to transform into a Therian Forme of themselves with slightly different stats and a new look. Tornadus’s Therian Forme sees no competitive play, and honestly looks incredibly goofy compared to it’s menacing Incarnate Forme listed above.
